Fireworks

We went to Cincinnati over Labor Day weekend to relax a bit and go to Riverfest for fireworks. We started the trip by taking a long tour of Jungle Jims, the best grocery store ever. They had cool carts that the kids loved which allowed us to spend a few hours strolling, tasting and finding fun things like almond flour, pepperoni rolled in fresh mozzarella, crusty bread...yum...

We then found our hotel that I booked online for less than $150. We got a 2 bedroom suite with a living room and full kitchen, as well as 2 free bfasts and 2 free dinners, and it was within walking distance of the Fireworks! AND free wi-fi! Whoo hoo! That's the good news.

Upon inspection of the rooms Scott came to a rather shocking discovery. The windows OPENED, as in WIDE OPEN, as in our children could FALL OUT OF THE 14th STORY! Needless to say, Scott was a bit freaked out and wanted to sleep with Jack. Jack was not happy with this arrangement however, and we compromised by stacking 2 dressers on top of each other and blocking the rest of the window with Liv's pack n play. Crisis averted. But no one was allowed on the balcony either, HUGE gap there!

We trekked to the fireworks after dinner and I mean trekked. Jack was a great sport and walked all the way there, and most of the way back before Scott carried him. It was past 10pm after all! Liv was happy in the stroller, but I was not so thrilled pushing it up hills on the way back ;)

This is how Liv spent most of the fireworks. No, she's not asleep. She's trying to escape the fireworks by pressing her blanket against her ear. They were "too loud". Though her first words after the fireworks were done were "more fireworks!" Silly girl. And everyone enjoyed a yummy snow cone and the kids loved their Jungle Jims suckers :)
