My brother in law ruptured his Achilles tendon last week playing basketball and will have surgery to repair it later this week. Boo for him :(
I was trying to explain to Jack that Uncle John had an owie that the doctor would have to fix using surgery. Here's how the conversation went:
Me: Uncle John is going to have to go to the doctor to have his leg fixed next week. He's going to have surgery. Do you know what that means?
Jack: Nope.
Me: The doctor is going to cut his leg where the owie is and then fix what was broken so Uncle John's leg will feel better.
Jack: Will he have to have shots?
Me: Yes, he will have to have a shot to make his leg numb.
Jack: (straight-faced) That's too bad. I hate shots...and tomatoes.
'Cause you know, tomatoes are on the same level as getting shots. At least to this 4 year old. Crazy kook.
