Today, I dropped off my baby at his first day of Kindergarten.
He had his Phineas and Ferb backpack filled with his CARS 2 lunch box and folder, his glasses, a note to his teacher and an apple for her...totally his idea. :) Proud Momma moment!
I pulled up to the circle drive and went over a few things; where to go when he went in the doors, to remember to bring his lunchbox home, to be nice to everyone, that I loved him, all the fun he was going to have today...things mom's want to make sure their kids remember! I asked him if he wanted me to walk him in this morning and he said "Nah Mom, I got this". With that, he got out of the car and up to the door, never looking back.
That was a bitter sweet moment for me. Sweet because he's a confident kid who loves people and is excited to go into new situations with no worries. Bitter because he's a big kid who doesn't need his mommy around to help him with, well, much of anything :( I miss the baby that needed me all the time, but I'm happy that I have a strong, confident 6 year old who still loves to give me big hugs.
I love you Jackers! I hope today is the best day yet!
Now when this one goes to preschool next week...
I may lose it.
Or enjoy the sweet, sweet quiet...
The jury's out on that one. ;)

Well said. I'm sure Jack will love reading that someday. If you need to come over or go out shopping after you drop off Olivia, just let me know!
