We were adventerous!

That's right, we went on an adventure! Yesterday afternoon Scott heard on the radio that there was a Jason Mraz concert in Lafayette that night that still had tickets for sale. He came home with this ornery grin on his face that looked EXACTLY like Jack when he's trying to get away with something. He wanted to go to the concert, I was worried about who would watch the kids and didn't want to inconvenience the family members who graciously watch our kiddos often for us. He decided to email his mom, as she was still in school, and see what happened from there. He left to run an errand and my MIL called saying she'd be happy to watch the kids, even though we wouldn't be getting home until after 11:30 if we were lucky (THANK YOU!). So we went to the dreaded Ticketmaster website and got the tickets. Little did we know that when we bought the tickets at around 3 pm, we would be getting 9th row center. IT WAS AWESOME!

We kissed the kiddos and off we went to Lafayette, which is an incredibly boring drive. We both had only been there a few times, and never drove ourselves (hey Alley-remember getting pulled over for playing water guns on the highway...). Finding the venue was surprisingly easy, parking a breeze and we found our seats in record time. For the first hour or so I didn't even have any one sitting next to me, which is my idea of concert heaven. Unfortunately we were soon joined by obnoxious cell phone addicted jock boy and his "we're not 'labeling' US right now" paramour, the bleach blond ditz who apparently forgot her clothing size when she went shopping as her clothes were at least 2 sizes too small. No joke. They were loud and obsessed with their cell phones, but once the concert started they were fine so that was great.

I have never seen so much texting in my life. People barely out of their high school years with Blackberry's like my DADS, that you know THEIR DADS were paying for. Don't their thumbs hurt? Don't they want to TALK to people? And my personal favorite cell phone madness: there were at least 5 people around us that would get on their phone, text their friends who were at the concert, then call them and try to find them in the crowd. The conversations went something like this...

Dumb kid: Where are you? REALLY! NO WAY! I'm down front. Look at the stage. Ok, now look to the right. Do you see me! I'm waving! No your other right! Yeah that's me! No I don't know how I got these seats! I called the lady and sweet talked her and she said she'd hook me up. Yeah, I know it's awesome. So what are you doing after the show? Yeah, we'll meet you at the clock tower. I'm with my friend. We've been crazy about each other for like 5 months, but we're not labeling it right now. Yeah, she's a great girl....

BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH....ON AND ON AND ON....
While this exchange was mildly entertaining it really made me feel old. And wonder why you would care so much about where everyone else was sitting...but anyway.

The opening act was fun, and Jason Mraz was super cool. A very fun show! Lots of the songs you know and a few that we'll have to look up on iTunes. It was a very fun adventure!!! Thanks honey!
